Incorporating simple design elements that showcase the company’s international brand, the design for the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) combines luxury and functionality into a space suitable to host foreign heads of state, media moguls, and high tech clientele in their San Francisco office.
Though housed on the 43rd floor of a 52-story high rise in the Financial District, the QIA office feels as though there are large skylights pouring natural light into the 5,500 SF space. The Revel team utilized stretched mylar that conceals LED panels, a system that mimics the effects of a skylight. These panels provide a sophisticated atmosphere, flooding the office with seemingly natural sunlight, and can be adjusted across a spectrum of warm and cool whites, perfectly complementing the dramatic views of the southern end of San Francisco Bay, including the SalesForce Tower to the east, and spanning all the way to the Suttro Tower to the west.
Additionally, the team used natural marble stone to clad the reception desk and counter tops throughout the conference rooms and the hospitality area which adjoins the lobby. The marble provides a high-end look which is offset by custom white CNC metal screens placed strategically throughout the space. The screen patterns were designed by extracting select geometries from the QIA brand mark, which is influenced by patterns commonly associated with the architecture of Qatar and the surrounding region. Accents of QIA’s maroon branding color are featured in fabrics for pillows and furniture throughout the office.
